Description Job Summary: Malley's Chocolates is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Entry-Level Quality Control Technician to support our commitment to producing high-quality, handcrafted chocolates and confections. In this role, you will help ensure that all products meet our quality standards, food safety regulations, and meet customer expectations. Key Responsibilities:
Inspect ingredients, chocolate batches, and finished products for quality, consistency, and appearance.
Monitor production processes such as tempering, molding, coating, and packaging to ensure standards are met.
Perform routine checks including temperature control, weight accuracy, and product integrity.
Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and sealing of products.
Maintain accurate records of inspections and quality checks.
Identify and report any defects (e.g., bloom, improper texture, or contamination risks)
Assist with corrective actions to maintain product quality.
Follow all food safety guidelines, including sanitation and hygiene standards (FDA, GMP, and HACCP).
Help maintain a clean and organized production and inspection environment.
Conduct Pre-Op inspections online equipment for daily production start-up.
Swabbing of equipment for Changeovers and cleaning validation.
Thermometer and scale calibrations for compliance.
Conduct daily testing of facility sanitizer with record documentation for compliance.
Monitor and enforce GMP standards.
Other duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Interest in food production, especially confectionery or chocolate manufacturing
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify visual and texture differences in products
Ability to follow standardized procedures and instructions
Good communication and teamwork skills
Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting
Preferred Skills:
Basic knowledge of food safety practices (HACCP, GMP)
Previous experience in food production, manufacturing, or retail food environments (a plus, but not required)
Familiarity with chocolate handling or confectionery processes is a bonus.
Bilingual communication (a plus but not required).
General knowledge of SQF and adherence preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
Work in a food production facility with exposure to varying temperatures (cooling rooms and warm kitchen areas)
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
Ability to lift up to 25-40 lbs.
Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays during peak seasons (e.g., holidays like Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter)
